Serving Netherlands remotely

Website designer in Netherlands

Dutch buyers expect a website to load fast, show the price including BTW, offer iDEAL at checkout and respect their cookie choice. I design and build websites for businesses in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven and beyond, in Dutch and English, with consent-aware tracking from the first day. I work remotely from India, with no office in the Netherlands.

Based in India and working remotely: no office in Netherlands, and video calls at times that suit you. The Netherlands is on UTC+1 (CET) from late October to late March and UTC+2 (CEST) in summer; India is on UTC+5:30, so the Netherlands is 4 hours 30 minutes behind in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes behind in summer. The normal working week is Monday to Friday. A 09:30 start in Amsterdam is 14:00 in India in winter or 13:00 in summer, so the Dutch morning overlaps with my afternoon and evening.

Website design and development for Netherlands businesses

Online shops in the Netherlands compete with bol.com on trust as much as on price. A shop of its own needs iDEAL placed first in checkout, delivery times and return terms visible before the basket, and product pages that carry the reviews and specifications Dutch shoppers check before buying. The legal side is concrete: prices must include BTW, a right of withdrawal must be explained, and the Authority for Consumers and Markets watches misleading offers. I build product feeds for Google Shopping at the same time, because a shop that is easy to find through feeds and reviews often earns more than one that relies only on its own pages.

Business-to-business sites in the Netherlands often serve buyers outside the country. A logistics firm near the port of Rotterdam, a high-tech supplier around Eindhoven or a horticulture exporter near the Westland speaks to purchasing teams in Germany, Belgium and further away, so English pages need to be as strong as the Dutch ones. I write page structures around specifications, certifications and a request-a-quote flow, and add a Dutch version where domestic customers matter. Since the European Accessibility Act applies from June 2025 to many consumer-facing services, I build to WCAG 2.2 AA so that requirement is met by design.

Privacy is part of the build, not a banner added at the end of the project. The GDPR applies, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens supervises it, and the Dutch Telecommunications Act requires consent before non-essential cookies, with refusal as easy as acceptance. I set analytics and ad tags to wait for consent and plan first-party measurement for the data that consent rules remove. The Netherlands is 4 hours 30 minutes behind India in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes in summer, so Dutch mornings meet my afternoons. I work with clients in any time zone.

How projects there are usually paid
Dutch consumers pay online mostly with iDEAL, a bank-to-bank method, plus cards and buy-now-pay-later options, and business customers pay by SEPA bank transfer against an invoice. VAT, called BTW in Dutch, has a standard rate of 21%, and businesses selling across the EU should check the One Stop Shop rules with their accountant. Local currency: EUR.
Languages
Dutch, English
Rules that apply
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, and the Dutch regulator is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, so analytics, forms and ad tracking need a lawful basis and a clear privacy notice.

Website designer in Netherlands: questions

Yes. Where a shop sells to Dutch consumers I place iDEAL first, with cards and buy-now-pay-later options after it, because that is the method most shoppers expect to find.

I build the structure, design and technical setup for both. Dutch wording should be written or approved by a native speaker, and I plan keyword research to include Dutch compound words.

From June 2025 it applies to many consumer-facing online services, including shops. I build to WCAG 2.2 AA, and your adviser can confirm whether your business is in scope.

I set tags to wait for consent, add a banner where refusing is as easy as accepting, and plan first-party and server-side measurement so enquiry data remains usable without breaking the rules.

A focused business website of five to ten pages usually takes three to five weeks from the signed brief, depending on how quickly content and feedback arrive. A custom application or a large catalogue takes longer, and I give a schedule with the quote.

Either. I use Next.js for speed and control, and WordPress or Shopify when you need an editor your team already knows or a store with ready-made features. I recommend the one that fits your content, budget and plans, and explain why.

Yes. Many Dutch businesses use English pages for international customers. For consumer services I recommend Dutch pages too, written or approved by a native speaker so they read naturally.

How the work runs

  1. 01

    Brief and audit

A call to learn the business, the visitor and the goal, plus an audit of any existing site and your current search and ad data.

  2. 02

    Structure and messaging

A page map, the wording of each headline and call to action, and a list of the proof you can show: reviews, results, certificates.

  3. 03

    Design

Phone-first layouts in your brand colours, reviewed with you on a staging link before any build effort is spent.

  4. 04

    Build

Fast, accessible pages with forms, tracking and SEO foundations built in, not added at the end.

  5. 05

    Test

Real-device checks, speed and accessibility testing, form and tracking tests with test data.

  6. 06

    Launch and hand over

Redirects, sitemap submission, a launch-day watch, a recorded walkthrough and written notes so you can run it.
