Serving Canada remotely

Web, ads and AI specialist for Canada

Canadian businesses can hire me remotely for websites, web applications, AI workflow automation and Google and Meta advertising, in English or with French copy reviewed by a native speaker. I work from India, about 8.5 to 13.5 hours ahead of Canada depending on the province and the season, so Canadian mornings meet my evening. I do not have a Canadian office; I work with clients in any time zone.

Based in India, working remotely: no office in Canada. Canada spans several zones: Newfoundland is UTC-3:30, the Atlantic provinces UTC-4, Eastern UTC-5 (Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa), Central UTC-6, Mountain UTC-7 (Calgary, Edmonton) and Pacific UTC-8 (Vancouver) in winter, and most places move one hour forward in summer. India is on UTC+5:30, so Toronto is 10 hours 30 minutes behind in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes behind in summer, and Vancouver is 13 hours 30 minutes behind in winter and 12 hours 30 minutes in summer. The normal working week is Monday to Friday. An 08:00 start in Toronto is 18:30 in India in winter, so Canadian mornings overlap with my evenings.

Hiring a remote specialist in Canada

Canada is a large market with a small number of dense population centres. Most buyers live in a strip along the southern border, and the country spans six main time zones, two official languages and thirteen provinces and territories with their own rules on tax, consumer protection and sometimes privacy. A business in Toronto, a clinic in Calgary and a retailer in Montréal face quite different customers, so one national campaign rarely fits all of them.

Many Canadian companies sell across the border to the United States as well, which adds a second layer: prices in two currencies, shipping and duty wording, and ad accounts that target both countries. Toronto, Waterloo and Montréal have strong software and artificial intelligence communities, Calgary is built around energy and its suppliers, Vancouver mixes technology, film and trade with Asia, and Ottawa has a large public-sector and technology base. Smaller firms in home services, health clinics, immigration and education advertise heavily on Google, and measurement is what separates a profitable account from a costly one.

I work with Canadian companies remotely from India. I have no office and no client list in Canada; I work with clients in any time zone. Because Canada covers several zones, we agree at the start which one your team works in and fix regular call times around it. I review the current site, the analytics and the consent set-up, agree a fixed scope in English, and plan French pages from the start if you serve Quebec, with a native speaker approving the wording.

How projects are usually paid
Canadian consumers pay online mostly by credit card and debit card, with Interac e-Transfer common for bank-to-bank payments and Interac Debit at checkout. Business customers pay by electronic transfer or cheque against an invoice. The federal Goods and Services Tax is 5%, and provinces add either a Harmonized Sales Tax or their own sales tax, so rates differ by province and sellers should confirm them with an accountant. Local currency: CAD.

Sectors in Canada that hire for web, ads and software

Software, artificial intelligence and technology
Companies in Toronto, Waterloo, Montréal and Vancouver need product sites, demo-request paths, documentation and measurement that respects Canadian and Quebec privacy rules.
Energy, resources and industrial suppliers
Firms around Calgary, Edmonton and the resource regions need credible business-to-business sites, project pages and search campaigns aimed at procurement teams.
Home services, trades and real estate
Contractors, cleaners and brokers in fast-growing metro areas need local landing pages, call tracking and Google Ads accounts structured around the services that pay best.
Healthcare, dental and wellness clinics
Private clinics need appointment-focused pages, local search visibility and advertising that follows the college and regulator rules on health claims in their province.
Education, immigration and professional services
Schools, consultants and regulated advisers serving newcomers need multilingual pages, trust signals and lead forms that route enquiries to the right person quickly.

Rules and market notes for Canada

Google is the dominant search engine, and Canadian searchers often use US spellings and terms next to Canadian ones, so keyword research should check both before pages are written.

Meta has limited news links for Canadian users since 2023 because of the Online News Act, which matters to publishers, while other business types can still use Facebook and Instagram advertising fully.

Many businesses also sell to US customers, so I set up separate campaigns, currencies and tracking for each country, which prevents one market's results from hiding problems in the other.

  • The federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies to most private-sector businesses, while Alberta and British Columbia have their own private-sector privacy acts, and Quebec's Law 25 adds stricter consent, transparency and impact-assessment duties.
  • Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires consent before sending commercial email or text messages, an identification of the sender and a working unsubscribe link, with penalties that can be severe.
  • Quebec's Charter of the French Language, strengthened by Bill 96, expects commercial content aimed at Quebec customers to be available in French, so a Quebec campaign should plan French pages from the outset.
  • Accessibility rules differ by province; Ontario's AODA, for example, requires larger organisations to meet WCAG standards on public websites, and the Accessible Canada Act covers federally regulated bodies.

Hiring for Canada: questions

Yes. I create separate French pages with correct language tags and local search set-up, and I recommend a native speaker from Quebec approves the copy so the wording matches how customers there write.

I set up email forms and sequences with consent records and unsubscribe links in line with CASL, but your lawyer should confirm the final wording and any exceptions that apply to your business.

We agree it at the start. Eastern calls usually fall in my evening and Pacific calls late at night or early morning for me, so I fix a regular slot and send written updates for the rest.

Yes. I keep separate campaigns, budgets, currencies and conversion tracking for each country, so you can see what each market returns instead of one blended number that hides weak spots.

No. I work remotely from India with clients in any time zone and do not claim a Canadian office or client list. Meetings are by video call, and I travel only if you arrange it.
